Climate Vulnerability, Adaptation, & Resiliency

Addressing climate change is fundamental to all of our work. This begins with understanding over multiple timeframes how the environment might change, what ecosystem and human values are or will become vulnerable, and what are the primary drivers of threat. We then develop the knowledge about the adaptive capacity of the ecosystems and human communities and assets. Finally we work with you to develop practical strategies to address change at different timeframes. Dr. Crist has been incorporating climate change since 2005 in his work with a broad variety of sectors and clients. For example, he co-wrote a guide for the Bureau of Land Management in how to incorporate changes to ecosystems in their land management and developed a new methodology and set of guides for the US Fish and Wildlife Service. PlanIt Forward can help you integrate climate vulnerability assessment and adaptation planning into a variety of sector and integrated planning activities.

Coastal vulnerability and resilience will affect a large proportion of the population. See our work helping regions and communities assess and plan for their “new coast.”
