Integrating Climate Change and Conservation Over Landscape Scales

A series of plan actions for this 25M acre region north of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Dr. Crist led this effort to test a climate adaptation framework in collaboration with the Bureau of Land Management. The project was organized by Yale University (funded by Doris Duke, Wilburforce, and Kresge Foundations). This project tested the Yale Framework in the ecotone region between the Central and Mojave Basins in support of Nevada BLM (and two pilot Field Offices) planning for near and long term (climate adaptation) management. The project utilized many outputs of the Rapid Ecoregional Assessments (see separate project) in addition to other data generation and modeling that resulted in large spatial database utilizing NatureServe Vista. Additionally, a report on the project and the effectiveness of the Yale Framework was created which have been converted into a Manager’s Guide and Technical Guide under contract to BLM’s Nevada State Office. PlanIt Forward can help your organization assess objectives over landscape scales and prioritize areas and actions in a landscape plan.
