During development of the EBM Tools Network (see separate project), the Packard Foundation funded pilot projects to advance coastal-marine planning. One of these projects was led by Dr. Crist, working with the Mission Aransas National Estuary Research Reserve, NOAA, Placeways, Sea Grant, and University of Texas to develop an integrated toolkit to address the complex problem of integrated land-sea planning. The team developed an integrated planning model, a project database, and a demonstration of the toolkit and process for Aransas County, TX. The project resulted in a documented decision support toolkit comprised of three ArcMap extensions (Vista, CommunityViz, and NSPECT), a guidebook for conducting integration land-sea planning, a tutorial data set, and training for local practitioners.
