Green Infrastructure Planning

Green infrastructure planning has become a common approach for communities and regions to accommodate conservation and recreational use of natural and semi-natural areas within an urban and suburban context. Dr. Crist was an advisor to Esri’s green infrastructure initiative and commonly incorporates green infrastructure concepts in his planning work, combining his backgrounds in landscape architecture, regional planning, and conservation biology. However, much green infrastructure as it is practiced lacks an appropriate data and science driven basis to properly meet stated objectives. Often the design of green infrastructure plans is based on a static view of the current landscape and doesn’t address ecological restoration needs and opportunities or climate resilience. PlanIt Forward can help you develop a resilient green infrastructure plan based on sound data and scientific principles.
